Text Box:            As the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I wish to take this opportunity to do two things. First, I wish to introduce myself to all our distinguished visitors. Second, I wish to welcome you all to the re-designed website of the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania Riyadh, KSA.

This website has been re-designed in order to satisfy your growing needs for information about our country. Therefore, in addition to disseminating general information about Tanzania, this website also provides information on Tanzania’s great economic potential, aimed at promoting investment, trade, tourism and cultural activities. We think this information is necessary because we know that most of our website visitors are potential investors and regular tourists whom we seek to encourage to visit our country and see for themselves why Tanzania can lay claim as “the cradle of mankind”, where hospitality is part and parcel of our culture. Those who have already been to Tanzania know that this is not an empty claim. For example, Tanzania has enjoyed political stability, peace and tranquility since independence. This conducive environment for both investment and tourism has been further strengthened by the political and economic reforms, which Tanzania has been undertaking for more than a decade now. One fundamental result of these reforms is the establishment of a multiparty democratic system, which has greatly enhanced the country’s political stability, something that is not very common in sub-Saharan Africa.

The ongoing reforms have also brought good news for potential investors. In addition to strengthening peace and stability, which are themselves an important guarantee for the security of both investment and investors; the reforms have also created conditions for a flourishing free market economy. I am sure investors would be pleased to know that Tanzania’s GDP is growing at an annual rate of 5.6 and inflation has been brought down to 4.5 percent. Those favorable economic indicators and the existence of abundant natural resources (including arable land, minerals and tourism attractions) make Tanzania a truly safe, productive and profitable investment destination. I would also like to inform potential investors that a new law for the protection of investment and other interests is already in force. Furthermore, Tanzania is committed to the settlement of disputes through international arbitration. With regard to tourism, Tanzania has earned a place as a world-class travel destination for holidaymakers and nature lovers. Apart from being home to rare flora and fauna, Tanzania is also home to six world heritage sites, two of which are cultural and four are natural. The cultural sites are the Zanzibar Stone town, a cultural heart of the Spicy Islands of Zanzibar that has not changed for over 200 years, and Kilwa Kisiwani/Songo Mnara, 13th Century center for gold trade. The four natural ones are Mt. Kilimanjaro, (Africa’s only snow capped mountain and the second highest mountain in the world, commonly referred to as the Roof of Africa and wholly lies within Tanzania’s Territory); Ngorongoro Crater (the largest unbroken caldera in the world, a unique breathtaking natural phenomenon that earned the title of the eighth wonder of the world); Serengeti National Park (the largest national park in the world and the best known wildlife sanctuary, home to more than three million large mammals and over four hundred species of birdlife, migrant and resident) and the Selous Game Reserve (the largest protected wildlife area in the world).

Dear visitor(s),
I am sure you know as much as I do that this website is by no means exhaustive. You may therefore wish to write to the Embassy for any additional information or clarification. It will be the Embassy’s pleasure to respond to your questions promptly, so that your wish to visit Tanzania can come true sooner rather than later. You are all warmly welcome to Tanzania. I thank you for visiting our website. I now have the pleasure to welcome you to enjoy going through it.
